8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablets become available according to a press release on the Amazon official website. The price tag of 16-gigabyte version of the tablet is $299 while 32-gigabyte version cost $369. Sales of 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD with LTE support will start a week later and will be more expensive. A version with 32 gigabytes of internal memory may cost $499, and a 64 GB – $599.
8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD powered by dual-core OMAP 4479 1.5 GHz processor and has a 1GB of RAM. The tablet comes with high resolution 1920×1200 pixels display with 254ppi density. 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD could run on battery power about 10 hours. The tablet weighs 567 grams and equipped by a micro-USB connector and micro-HDMI. The Wi-Fi of the device is accelerated by using double antenna and MIMO technology.
Kindle Fire HD is running on modified Android 4.0 operating system. Amazon has developed its own tablet shell and Silk browser. Applications could be downloaded from the Amazon Appstore.
Amazon announced Kindle Fire HD tablets in early September 2012. 7-inch tablet was available in mid-September. The shipping of 8.9-inch devices was expected on November 20, but Amazon began shipping the device ahead of schedule.
September 6th on the special event Amazon introduced next generation of popular Kindle devices including new models of Kindle bookreaders – Kindle Paperwhite with built-in front light.
This anxiously awaiting feature allows read books in dark environment. 6-inch Kindle Paperwhite equipped with 4 led lights hidden under the frame. Lights could be turned on and off whenever it is necessary.
Kindle Paperwhite display comes with density of 212 pixels per inch. Kindle Paperwhite has more clear, contrast and sharp touch screen in comparison to previous models.
Kindle Paperwhite weighs slightly more than two hundred grams and can operate on battery power for up to eight weeks. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite comes with 2GB of internal memory, 1.25 GB of the memory intended for customer usage.
The device will be available in two versions. One of them will support Wi-Fi only and the other will support both Wi-Fi and cellular 3G networks. The prices on Amazon Kindle Paperwhite are $119 and $179 respectively. Amazon provides free 3G wireless traffic while using Kindle Paperwhite.
Sales of Kindle Paperwhite will start in October 2012.
Apart from Paperwhite, Amazon updated the current version of Kindle book reader by adding new fonts and providing faster page turns. The price on this device dropped from $79 to $69 U.S..
Amazon is not the first company that released the reader with the backlight. Similar feature have in particular Sony PRS-700BC and Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight.
According to the Amazon press release the company has sold all stocks of Kindle Fire tablets. They are not available any longer. Amazon did not specify whether Kindle Fire will be back on the market, but said that there are exciting plans for the future. Most likely details on Amazon’s plan will be announced on coming presentation scheduled for September 6th. However first model of Kindle Fire did not have GPS, built-in camera and did not support cellular networks. Kindle Fire has gained popularity due to the low price of $ 199 and convenient access to large stock of Amazon digital content.
Amazon claims that in August 2012 Kindle Fire took 22 percent of the U.S. tablet market. According to the company Kindle Fire was the most successful product in Amazons history.
Amazon is sending invitations to a special event to be held on September 6 in Santa Monica
The invitation does not say a word about the agenda but that the event is organized by Amazon Kindle-products shop. Analysts believe that Amazon is going to announce the second generation of Kindle Fire tablet.
According to rumors, Amazon may release several versions of Kindle Fire 2 tablet in various price categories. 7-inch models expected to come with touch screen display of 1024 × 600 or 1280 × 800 pixels and with integrated camera. In addition larger models of Kindle Fire 2 with 9 or 10-inch displays may be introduced. The price of the base Kindle Fire 2 model expected around $200 – the same as the current version of Kindle Fire.
It is also likely that next generation of Amazon Kindle electronic book readers announced on the event.

According to the survey of 6,000 people tablets BECOME MORE POPULAR THAN SMARTPHONES. ComScore asked respective owners to assess their Tablet PC on a scale of 1 to 10. The result was pretty intriguing. As expected Apple iPad got the highest number of points – 8.8. But Amazon Kindle Fire got very similar score 8.7. All other Android tablets got significantly lower points with an average result of 8.2.
There were also a few interesting facts discovered during the survey. 56.6% of Amazon Kindle Fire owners are women while men own 52.9% of Apple iPad tablets. Typically owners of Apple iPad financially secured better. 46.3% of Apple iPad owners reported that their income is more than 100 thousand dollars a year. One of the main reason to buy Apple iPad was advertising campaigns and the popularity of the brand. From other hand Amazon Kindle Fire owners bought their tablets focusing more on price and availability of wide range of applications covering their needs.
